Summer School
Summer School 2021 - Statement
From 16-20 August 2021, Sawston Village College offered an exciting week of activities to a selected group of pupils who were due to join us in Year 7 from September 2021. The group were identified as pupils who would benefit from extra support in their transition into Year 7.
We hoped that the week would provide an opportunity for the pupils to build a community with their peers and forge relationships with new teachers and other school staff in a fun environment, as well as familiarising themselves with their new school setting. We also hoped that, throughout the week, pupils would make developments in confidence and social skills through the activities along with an underlying focus on literacy skills.
The week’s activities included many enrichment activities that pupils may not have been able to access over the past year due to the limitations of Covid-19 restrictions, such as printmaking, pottery, rocket-making, circus skills, sports, and drama. The week also included a trip to a local Arts Centre for a workshop day with a resident artist. The week concluded with a celebration event, during which pupils presented and performed to parents and carers the work that they had produced during the week.
The full programme can be found in the downloads section below.
