Sawston Village College Regeneration

At Sawston Village College we are making plans for our future.

Our College boasts a heritage setting and unique character, however, some of the current building stock and site layout are inefficient for the demands of a modern curriculum.

The DfE has tasked Bowmer + Kirkland with planning for the future of the school; to better accommodate pupils and staff, improve energy efficiencies and reduce running costs, bolster the collegiate style layout, protect our historic listed buildings and provide improved facilities for the local community to share. These include updating the Sports Centre and Marven Centre.

The plans represent a major investment from the DfE and will achieve a more welcoming, attractive and safe environment in which to teach and learn. The regeneration will meet the latest standards of sustainable building regulations and will be largely constructed off-site to help minimise disruption to our neighbours.

The project team has been working closely with the College, Anglian Learning and officers at South Cambridgeshire District Council in preparation of the proposals and would like to invite parents, carers and local people to review the plans at a public exhibition. This event will take place in the Henry Morris Hall at the College on Tuesday, 23 January 2024, 5.30-8.30pm, where you can view the detailed plans, meet members of the project team and share your feedback. Stonyrock Limited, PR and communication consultants, are running the public exhibition, community engagement and managing all feedback regarding the plans.

Your views are important. Please share your feedback with Stonyrock by Monday, 5 February 2024. Once Stonyrock has carefully reviewed all feedback received, a planning application will be submitted to the local planning authority. If you are unable to attend the event, the exhibition display and feedback form will be available afterwards on the project website here: sawstonvillagecollegeplans.co.uk.
