Ofsted Inspectors praise Sawston Village College
In November 2017, Ofsted carried out a short, one-day inspection of the College and concluded that the leadership team ‘has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection’ and that the school ‘is very well positioned on the journey to become an outstanding school’.
Pupils were found to ‘behave very well and are proud of their school’ while ‘the overwhelming majority of parents are highly positive about the quality of education, pupils’ progress and the range of skills they learn by the time they leave’. Furthermore, the letter from inspectors praised the wide range of opportunities, both in and outside of the classroom, open to pupils, in particular our provision in the arts.
Safeguarding and child protection are seen as strengths, as is the quality of care and our approach to inclusion. At the same time, the report recognises that we are not complacent and that, as a team of leaders and wider staff, we are determined to drive further improvement. The next steps for the College identified by inspectors already feature in our development plans for the next two years.
We would like to extend our thanks to all parents and pupils who were involved in providing evidence for the inspection. The inspection letter can be found in the downloads section below.
As part of the inspection process, parents are encouraged to contribute their views on the school’s performance via the ParentView website: http://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/. This quick and easy method of registering your views allows the College and OFSTED to get a snapshot of what the school is doing well and what it can do to improve.
