'A welcoming, friendly and caring school'

Following the Ofsted inspection in early May 2023, Sawston Village College was found to continue to be a ‘good’ school.

The inspectors were impressed by the staff’s support of each other, the overwhelmingly positive comments given by parents, governors, pupils and staff, and by the shared sense of values, moral purpose and caring nature that they found.

Pupils were found to be ‘happy at this school and say that they feel safe’. Furthermore, the report commented positively on the ‘strong ethos of pupil leadership’ and ‘wide variety of enrichment activities and visits’. ‘Leaders have thought carefully about the key knowledge they want pupils to learn. High-quality and ambitious curriculum plans set out the sequence in which pupils will learn this knowledge’, with SEND pupils also following ‘the same ambitious curriculum’.

Safeguarding was found to be ‘well led’ and staff ‘proud and happy to work at this school’.

We would like to extend our thanks to all parents and pupils who were involved in providing evidence for the inspection. The full inspection report can be found in the downloads section below.

As part of the inspection process, parents are encouraged to contribute their views on the school’s performance via the ParentView website: https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/. This quick and easy method of registering your views allows the College and OFSTED to get a snapshot of what the school is doing well and what it can do to improve.
