Clubs and Activities
An enriching programme
There are many clubs and activities at Sawston Village College. Go to Current Programme in the menu on this page for the latest brochure of lunchtime and after school activities.
Sawston Village College believes strongly that there is more to school than examination results, and it works hard to provide an enrichment and extracurricular activities programme to suit pupils of all interests and abilities. These include particular strengths in the arts, with one of the best Music Departments in Cambridgeshire offering opportunities for pupils to perform at leading venues and work alongside leading composers, conductors and musicians. The Drama Department regularly visits local and West End theatre venues, and the College is pleased to support Sawston Youth Drama, one of the region’s leading youth theatre companies. The College is also developing a strong reputation for the quality of its work in film.
The College also provides opportunities outside of the arts, reflected in our accreditation as an Investing in Community Engagement Award school from the SSAT. There is a strong partnership with the Rotary Club (for which Sawston Village College holds special Companionship Status) supporting the Youth Speaks debating competition; a rich extended schools’ provision, including sports clubs, Digital Imaginings, Chess, and Warhammer. There is a vibrant Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme, a homework and study support club after school, two STEM clubs and many more. In fact, the enrichment programme is such a strength of the College that pupils regularly refer to it when asked what they like about Sawston Village College. No matter what the ability level is, no matter the interest, there is usually something for our young people to develop and explore, and if not, we are always willing to consider new ideas.
