Arts Award
Sawston Village College is an Arts Award centre and is committed to running the Arts Award, a nationally accredited qualification managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England. Like the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Arts Award can be achieved at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. The school offers the Arts Award for all Year 7 pupils at Bronze level as part of an extended programme of study, while Silver and Gold levels are offered as an extracurricular personal learning programme. In recognition of this commitment, Sawston Village College is a Trinity Arts Award Champion Centre.
The Arts Award recognises young people’s participation and leadership in the arts and interprets the ‘arts’ in the widest possible sense. In this way, the Award develops and assesses both arts-related and transferable skills, such as creativity, communication, planning and teamwork. The Arts Award is on the Qualification Credit Framework and is accredited by OFQUAL.
For more information about the Arts Award see www.artsaward.org.uk, or contact the school’s Arts Development Manager, Ms Morgan (lmorgan@sawstonvc.org). The College is also pleased to have a partnership with The Arts Society South Cambs, which supports young people to achieve this award.
