Year 8 Girls Football: Sawston 3 v 2 St Bede’s

Congratulations to our Year 8 girls who won their first football fixture against St Bede’s with a 3-2 victory! Despite a strong start from Sawston, St Bede’s managed to swipe a goal in the early stages of the match. Sawston quickly dusted themselves off to gain an equaliser before the half time whistle from Libby Unwin.  St Bede’s quickly scored again in the second half. However, after a few tactical changes, Sawston quickly improved and went on to dominate possession. Libby Unwin scored two brilliant goals in the second half to become a hat-trick hero for the team and bring home the win. I could not have been more impressed by the attitude and level of performance of all the girls. Bea White was a rock in defence, Ines Lao-Sirieix made some match winning saves and Coco Williams did not stop running the whole match. Every one of the girls was brilliant, and we look forward to a return away fixture against St Bede’s next week!  Well done ladies!
