Year 8 Boys Football: Sawston 3 v 2 St Bede’s

Congratulations to our Year 8 boys football team who had their first win on Wednesday this week. Against St Bede’s, they had a slow start with an unlucky first goal taking St Bede’s 1-0 up. Composing themselves, Sawston applied pressure gaining an equaliser with a fantastic goal from Ned Jones. A fantastic cross into the box from Finley Walker opened up an opportunity for Jamie Murkin to score another goal for Sawston, sending them into the lead. The boys demonstrated fantastic communication across the pitch and some excellent play from our midfielders. Euan O’Leary, Finley Walker and Lewis Jones created plenty of opportunities for the team. Sawston’s third goal was scored by Ned Jones who once again created a fantastic piece of play from a long ball delivered from our goalkeeper, Harry Chatwin. Some star performances from our goalkeeper Harry Chatwin and defenders Jack Blake and Henry Clarke prevented any further chances from St Bede’s, leaving the final score 3-2 to Sawston.

All boys should be very proud of their performance representing the school and we look forward to the next fixture. Well done!
