Well done to all of our U16 girls who played in the ESFA fixture against St Mary’s on 7 October 2024 and finished with a final result of 8-0. With plenty of goals from the team, it was a great opportunity for the girls to get stuck in and play some fantastic football.

The first half saw Libby Unwin score, which put Sawston into the lead.  Jasmine Green stepped up an age group to support the squad and made a positive contribution with another goal to take the girls into a solid lead.  All the girls played strongly and maintained plenty of possession throughout. Plays by Mia Diaz David and Anni Sainson kept the ball going forward towards the opposition, with lots of attempts on goal.

The second half saw the girls feeling super comfortable with lots of goals scored. Mia fired one in from 40 yards out, drifting past the keeper and closely followed was a second for Jasmine, smashing it into the back of the net after some technical dribbling into the box. Bryony O’Connell scored from outside of the box, and Alba Garman went on to score, putting us six goals up. After some changes to the team, Imsy Butler-Burd managed to score a fantastic goal assisted by Libby.  Eager for a second goal, Libby went on to score another, leaving her on a brace.

All our defenders, Hayley, Bea and Molly were excellent at keeping the ball away from any attacking opportunities. This was a fantastic effort from all involved. A special mention also goes to Evie Park, who also stepped up an age group alongside Jasmine.
