Fixture against Swavesey Village College

Sawston’s Year 9 boys claimed a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Swavesey in the third round of the National Cup on 11 November 2024. This win sees Sawston progress into the fourth round of the National Cup.

Sawston took the lead when Taddy F latched onto a loose ball just outside the penalty area. With calm composure, he drilled a fantastic shot into the bottom corner of the net, giving Swavesey’s goalkeeper no chance and putting Sawston 1-0 ahead.

In the second half, Sawston continued to look the more dangerous side. Sawston doubled their advantage when Harry H showed great poise to finish from close range and make it 2-0.

Swavesey pressed in the final stages, but Sawston’s defence remained resolute, with goalkeeper and backline ensuring the win. Despite late efforts from the visitors, Sawston saw out the match comfortably, securing a well-earned 2-0 victory.

With this win, Sawston progress into round 4 of the National Cup. The boys showed excellent teamwork, discipline, and clinical finishing, and will be looking forward to their next challenge in the competition.
