Under 14 Boys ESFA National Cup – Round 2
Fixture against Hinchingbrooke School
Well done to all of our U14 Boys who managed to get themselves through to the 3rd round of the National Cup on 16 October 2024. With a 4-2 win against Hinchingbrooke School, the boys play exceptionally well and had a strong come back from being 2-0 down.
An unfortunate penalty against Sawston led to a 1-0 lead by Hinchingbrooke. However, the team, trying to keep their cool, continued to make a good attempt at goal and maintained possession. With an unlucky chance, we saw ourselves down another goal, leaving the boys on the back foot as we approached the end of the first half. After a fantastic corner from the boys, we managed to get the ball into the back of the net with the ball chested past the keeper by Oscar Karpuk (1). This meant the half ended on 2-1, with the boys still in the game.
As we entered the second half, with some changes made, and we had Max Crump (1) rocket the ball past the keeper after some brilliant possession-based play that led to an equaliser. In super high spirits, the boys could feel a third on the way. Keanan Burns (1) scored a screamer from outside the box, which ricocheted off the crossbar and past the goalline. We had pulled ahead, and the boys continued to excel throughout the remainder of the match. With lots of back and forth play, Hinchingbrooke made some strong attacks, testing our defence. Torin Jones and Oliver Prior continued to battle, preventing further chances. Entering the final 5 minutes, Taddy Fouda (1) used his speed and agility to solidify the win, ending the game on 4-2. A superb comeback by all.
We look forward to round 3 in the National Cup. Best of luck to all involved.
