A great effort from our U16 boys rugby squad

A great effort from our U16 boys rugby squad who had their first triangular fixture of the 2024/25 season on 25 September 2024. The overall results were not reflective of this team’s ability; a 5-5 draw against Bottisham and a narrow 20-15 loss to St Bede’s.

Sawston demonstrated great passing and handling skills, developing strong attacking plays, which led to multiple team tries, with Jack Blake (2) and Barney Freshwater (2) both contributing to the scoreboard. Our Player Of the Match goes to Ned Gott, whose superb physicality and speed broke through the opposition’s built up defence, time and time again.

A special shout out to Edu, Lewis, Ned, Senan and Thoma who were selected to play up an age category, joining the Y11 team.  They played brilliantly well, not only holding their own in their debut matches, but adding skill and strength to the team. It gives great us great confidence for the season ahead. Great job all round: bring on the next match!
