Fixture Against Soham

A massive well done to our U16 girls Football team who won their first fixture in the County Cup against Soham Village College.

Against a tough side and after a defeat against them last year, the girls put in a superb performance to win 2-0. With a home game and support from the school, we were able to demonstrate some class performances and plays. The first half was very even, with some fantastic defending from Tilly Barker, and Molly Smith blocking any attacks by Soham. Lots of attempts back and forth by both teams left us ready to battle for a second half win.

As we entered the second half, Mia Diaz David pinged the ball toward the goalie. As the wind carried it top right of the goal from just inside the halfway line, this would be a goal to remember. In high spirits, the team began to move the ball confidently around the pitch with some great plays by Bryony O’Connell, and Keely Cole kept the goalkeeper busy. Alex Shelford gave a super run from the wing and managed to strike the ball past the keeper, giving us a 2-0 win.

Well done to everyone involved! We have plenty to look forward to with this team as they progress further in the Cup.
