Professor Tom Lawson visits

We were delighted to have former pupil Professor Tom Lawson join us today as part of our activities for Holocaust Memorial Day. Professor Lawson is Deputy Vice Chancellor at Northumbria University and a Historian of the Holocaust. He delivered a talk to interested KS4 Historians at lunchtime and to Year 9 pupils who are currently studying the Holocaust in Geography and History.

This morning, in mentor time, we also reflected on this year’s theme for Holocaust Memorial Day – ‘Fragility of Freedom’, and pupils produced labels to tie on our Holocaust Memorial Day plinth with pledges valuing our freedom and that of others.
