Award renewal

Sawston Village College is proud to have been awarded a renewal of the Rainbow Flag Award, showing our ongoing commitment to supporting our LGBTQ+ pupils and staff through strong pastoral care and an inclusive curriculum. We were recently audited by a representative from the Kite Trust, a local LGBTQ+ youth organisation, who met with some of our young people as well as staff to discuss life at Sawston Village College. The visitor was delighted by how eloquent, engaged and forthcoming the Pride Club representatives were, and by the thoughtful dedication of our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. We were also able to present an insight into some of our different subjects, and the auditor was particularly impressed by the history department’s commitment to diversity. Overall, it was a very pleasant day for all involved, and we enjoyed the opportunity to showcase a focus on Community, the first of our CARE values.
