Under 14 Girls ESFA National Cup – Round 1

Congratulations to our Under 14 girls!

Congratulations to our Under 14 girls who won their first match of the English Schools National Cup against Henlow CofE Academy on 30 September 2024. We had an amazing result with a 7-1 win taking us through to the next round. 

The first half had plenty of possession from Sawston, leading to the first goal from Jasmine Green (3). As the girls settled into the game, Henlow returned with an equaliser bringing them back to an even score. Ramping it up a gear, the girls grew in confidence with Zara Berry (3) assisting Evie Park (1) with a second. Plenty of through balls down the wing led to many chances from Sawston, leading to Jasmine sending it across the goal into the back of the net. Sofia Zarate was fantastic at moving the ball into the box for the girls to have plenty of attempts on goal. 

In the opening minutes of the second half, Zara smashed the ball past the keeper putting her on two with Jasmine quickly following up with a third to complete her hat-trick. Both girls worked exceptionally well, with Jasmine assisting Zara for a second. To finish off the match with a 7-1 win, we had another hat-trick from the team with Zara scoring from the edge of the box.  All of the girl were impressive throughout, some star performances came from Stala Finch and Natalia Smith who had plenty of excellent plays to support. We look forward to the next round!
