Boys Basketball v St Bede’s
Year 7/8 Boys: Sawston 17 v 32 St Bede’s
On Wednesday afternoon, our Year 7 and 8 boys played their first ever basketball match against St Bede’s. After a shaky start, the boys steadily improved, as we started to score more of our opportunities. This led to a dramatic improvement in the second half, where we went onto win the fourth quarter by two points. Stand out performers were Theo Gregory and Austin Houde who scored some excellent shots. Ted Silk played brilliantly as a point guard, showing great speed and agility to dribble past his man and set up numerous chances for Austin Houde to score. Overall, it was a great team effort with everybody playing their part. Well done!
Year 10/11 Boys:
Congratulations to the Year 10 and 11 boys who challenged St Bede’s Academy players on Wednesday afternoon. With a strong start to the game, our boys managed to score some excellent points against St Bede’s strongest line up. Malakai Wilson scored an incredible three pointer and Robbie Pearson-Jones applied great attacking pressure throughout. Our experienced captain Elliot Weston led the team from point guard effectively and rallied the troops well in what proved to be a difficult game. Sawston had many positives to take from the game with this being their first competitive fixture of the season. They had a great attitude and showed true sportsmanship throughout. Well done!
