ITALIAN ADVANCED CONVERSATION - TUESDAY 09.30-11.30
COURSE DETAILS AND AIMS:
The course is suitable for students who have already studied Italian for several years or have knowledge of the language at advanced level. A good understanding of the structure and basic grammar is required, together with the ability to read and understand original materials. Students are expected to actively contribute to class discussions on a wide range of topics including current affairs, social issues, literature and cinema. The course will be based mainly on conversation and class discussions on specific topics, covering a wide range of cultural, geographical, social, historical and political aspects of Italy. There will be, however, some revision of specific elements of grammar and some written activities. Aims:
• To deepen the knowledge of the country in all its aspects
• To practice and develop the language to attain high standards
• To practice the ability to express personal opinions
• To broaden the vocabulary and to consolidate the most difficult key elements of grammar
• To be able to use the language outside the classroom.
SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
Knowledge of Italian language at advanced level. Ability to read and understand articles from the Italian press and to actively contribute to class discussions on a wide range of topics including current affairs, social issues, literature and cinema. A high level of interest not only in the Italian language, but also the country’s history, culture and society is required.
