GUITAR FOR BEGINNERS - TUESDAY 19.15-21.15
COURSE DETAILS AND AIMS:
This course is a follow on from Guitar for Beginners 2 and would be suitable for you if you have completed approximately 40 hours of learning. More complex material will be introduced, developing further skills in reading music, understanding music terms, symbols and theory, and performing more technical pieces, scales, exercises, arrangements and solos.
The learning outcomes for this term are to be able to read music/tablature to the 3rd level Extend repertoire of songs and riffs to the 3rd level Increase knowledge of chords, scales and music theory Increase confidence in the performance of more challenging material Develop picking, fingerstyle and strumming techniques through the study of new songs.
SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
Skills attained in Guitar for Beginners 1 and 2.
MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR FIRST CLASS:
One working guitar, acoustic (nylon or steel string) or electric
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR: JAMES FREE
James Free is a multi instrumentalist with over 20 years experience in
teaching music. He gained his BA (Hons) Music from Anglia Polytechnic
University, Cambridge in 1998 and PTLLS teaching qualifications in
2013. As well as teaching, James has been a performing musician,
touring the UK, Europe and the United States. He has performed with a
wide variety of artists including Tom Robinson and venues including
Glastonbury Festival.
