GROW YOUR OWN FRUIT & VEG (ORGANIC GARDENING) Monday 19.00-21.00

COURSE DETAILS AND AIMS:

In this special edition of our vegetable growing evening course we will be looking at how to keep our plots productive over the winter months and prepare them for the spring growing season. From winter jobs such as mulching and soil preparation to designing crop plans for winter harvests and making best use of polytunnels and greenhouses, we will be looking at what to do when to keep our harvests coming right through winter and ensuring our plot gets off to a flying start in the spring. If winter on your allotment or vegetable garden has traditionally been a time of rest then it’s time to discover a whole new season of productive vegetable gardening!

The course will cover everything from planning your plot through to bringing in your harvest, including: sowing and planting, soil and soil management, feeding and watering, pests, weeds and diseases, growing under cover and an in depth look at how to grow a range of different fruit and vegetable crops.
There will be a focus on providing practical ideas for learners to take away, as well as an understanding of the science and theory behind them.
