COURSE DETAILS AND AIMS:
By the end of the 10 week course learners will be able to make ceramic objects using the following techniques, slab building, coil building, pinch building and throwing on the potter’s wheel. They will understand and use a range of ceramic materials, techniques and processes. Understand the cultural, historical and contemporary design and use of ceramics. Learners will observe strict Health and Safety practices in the pottery room at all times as directed by the tutor.
SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
An interest in the subject.
MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR FIRST CLASS:
Washable apron/overall; closed toe shoes; old clothes.

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR: LISA GHIGGINI
After studying fine art, Lisa specialised in ceramics and recently finished her Masters in Ceramics and Glass at Farnham. Since then, she has been an artist in residence at Anglia Ruskin University, was shortlisted for the ‘Rising Stars’ prize in Farnham and went on to show work at Handmade Chelsea. Her teaching experience has been diverse and this recently included teaching women to make pots in Saudi Arabia.
