Guitars for Beginners Monday 19.15-21.15
COURSE DETAILS AND AIMS:
This course is for the complete beginner with little or no musical
experience or knowledge. Learners will be introduced to reading music
and tablature, a variety of techniques covering multiple styles of guitar
music, chords and progressions leading to songs and playing well known
rock riffs and the learning of scales with a means creating improvised
solos.
It is one course spanning three terms. Each term will follow on from the
previous one meaning that the summer term will have the more
advanced content.
SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
None for Autumn term then the skills gained in the Autumn term will be
needed for the next term and so on.
MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR FIRST CLASS:
One working guitar and the following book for the study of reading
music:
The Guitarist’s Way Book 1 by Peter Nuttall and John Whitworth.

Approximately £7.00 for a book.
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR: JAMES FREE
James Free is a multi instrumentalist with over 20 years experience
teaching and performing music. He gained his BA (Hons) degree in
Music from Anglia Polytechnic University, Cambridge in 1998 and PTLLS
teaching qualifications also in Cambridge. He has gone on to perform
across the UK, Europe and the USA with a variety of artists and acts at
many venues including Glastonbury Festival.
