Guitar for Beginners - Monday 19.15-21.15
COURSE DETAILS AND AIMS:
This course is for the complete beginner with little or no musical
experience. Learners will be introduced to techniques in reading music
and tablature, strumming chords leading to chord progressions to well
known songs, rock riffs, picking and technical skills and playing scales
with a mind to improvising guitar solos.

MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR FIRST CLASS:
One working guitar plus ‘The Guitarist’s Way’ Book 1 by Peter Nuttall and
John Whitworth
ADDITIONAL COURSE COSTS (IF APPLICABLE):
£5.00 approximately for the book
FURTHER INFORMATION:
By the end of the course learners will be able to read music and
tablature, strum chords to well known songs, use picking and finger
techniques for different styles of guitar playing, play rock riffs and
improvise guitar solos
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR: JAMES FREE
James Free is a multi instrumentalist with over 20 years experience
teaching and performing music. He gained his BA (Hons) in Music from
Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge and his PTLLS Teaching
qualification also from Cambridge. He has performed across the UK,
Europe and the United States with a large range of artists and acts at
many venues including Glastonbury Festival.
