COURSE DETAILS AND AIMS:
By the end of the 10 week course the learners will be able to: make
ceramic objects using the following techniques: slab building, coil
building, pinch building, throwing on the potter’s wheel. Understand and
use a range of ceramic materials, techniques and processes. Understand
the cultural, historical and contemporary design and use of ceramics.
Observe strict Health and Safety practices in the pottery room at all
times as directed by the tutor.
SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
An interest in the subject.
MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR FIRST CLASS:
Washable apron/overall; proper shoes not sandals or flip flops.
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR: LIZZY McCAUGHAN
Until recently Lizzy McCaughan has been teaching general art and
design in Further Education, and is a qualified teacher. She has her
own studio at Cambridge Artworks.
