Ceramics - Monday 19.00-21.00

COURSE DETAILS AND AIMS:
This course is designed to give learners a range of ceramic skills; to
including the making techniques of throwing, hand building, pinch pots
and slab- building; an understanding of clay, its firing cycle, glazes and
be introduced to a multitude of decorating techniques.
More experienced learners are welcome to attend, to develop their own
projects which should continue to stretch their ceramic knowledge.

MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR FIRST CLASS:
Apron, basic ceramic tools.

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR:  CHRIS DOMMETT
Chris taught ceramics and art since 1969, at Art Centres, colleges and schools. He
also teaches at other Village Colleges.
“My specialism, beyond basic ceramics, is in pattern making and plaster mould
making, having spent many years working on palaces and mosques in the Middle
East.”
If you are a beginner, you can choose to follow a course, which we can easily
adapt to your preferences.
We will cover, pinch making, slab work, coiling, throwing, slip-casting. Glaze
techniques and applications.
If you know what you want to do, we have the equipment and facilities to
continue your progress.
