History
"Historical awareness should be an essential part of the education of all young people."
The History Department at Sawston Village college realises the amazing opportunities offered by the subject.
We strongly believe that History can:-
- Develop literacy and the use of language;
- deliver the ideas of citizenship.
- Provide a meaningful context for moral reasoning;
- encourage a sense of individuality
- Promote an understanding of tradition and heritage and an appreciation of their richness and diversity.
- Be a powerful motivator for underachieving boys.
We aim to give pupils the opportunity to:
- Speak clearly and effectively to convey information.
- Listen attentively to others.
- Read confidently to gain ideas and information.
- Write accurately and appropriately.
- Argue reasonably and with judgement.
